Switching the Format and Encoding from Auto to Tight fixed the problem. No idea why.

Tried it. No joy. Still drops immediately. Also see the error: "WriteExact: Socket error while writiing"

The older DirectX VNC had a server disconnected error.

Control of a Mac from an UltraVNC client

The Mac is running Snow Leopard, which has straight VNC built in. UltraVNC (running on Vista) sees the mac, asks for the password and starts the login process but then, immediately, says the connection is dropped and will retry. That's as far as it goes.

Any ideas?
