The issue is not entirely solved. I get the Java windows about 20% of the time. For the most party only the caption is visible. And yes, capturing alpha blending is enabled (rechecked in the admin gui) and I've also rebooted, twice. Java applets in a web browser are invisible 100% of the time. Both ...

Thanks for the tip. I had to change the setting directly in the ini file, because the admin window did not want to save anything claiming admin rights are missing (I was logged in as admin on WindowsXP).
