Re: LogMeIn Free Discontinued!

Actually, LMI Central accounts can still use LMI Free clients. It's only those who were using LMI Free without paying who can no longer use LMI Free. Thanks, Angus, you're right; I noticed it this weekend and was coming back to mention it. They also seem to be selectively extending the deadline by ...

LogMeIn Free Discontinued!

With ZERO notice and only 7 days' grace, LogMeIn has discontinued its Free offering. I personally know of a dozen people using it for personal and business use; both had been allowed. The first announcement was today; as of this writing the service terminates on 1/28/14. They didn't even e-mail ...

Re: Don't work chunkvnc

I don't know why only the service version works, but one thing that stands out is that you're attaching to the repeater on its PUBLIC address. For local same-machine testing you should probably be using localhost or the local LAN IP address, so it doesn't even have to try reaching the router. (I've ...

Re: DNS redirection

It seems you could use it similarly to how you've used DynDNS in the past. Seems like a pretty standard DNS hosting setup to me.

But why ask us?

If I were you I would ask your provider.

Re: Unable to connect two machines on a LAN

I would start by doing something like netstat/an from a command prompt on both machines to confirm that the VNC server is listening on the desired port (5900 by default). Then from one machine, telnet to the other on that port and see if you get a response. Of course be sure you are using the ...

No problem; it's kind of funny.

I did a quick search and someone did a whole "mod" of ChunkVNC that might fit your bill. I've never tried it though.

Re: UVNC with SC - access problems

The VNC server should be pre-installed as a service to get around these issues. You can use regular UltraVNC or something like SCPrompt or ChunkVNC.

Re: Running a Sc program on linux?

Simple answer: neither UltraVNC nor UltraVNC SC runs on Linux. They are Windows-only programs.

With some effort you might get it to work with a Linux version of VNC.

Re: Stop Chunkvnc when viewer disconnect

The viewing person could shut down the UltraVNC server manually, instead of just disconnecting. Or one could use UltraVNC's "When Last Client Connects, Logoff Workstation" setting, and make sure not to run ChunkVNC in service mode... Or you could try modifying ChunkVNC's AutoIT script to do it for ...

Re: Virus deleted start menu shortcuts

No problem with referrals to good sites! Thanks. I meant that the OP could do what he was asking US to do (create a zip of all default Windows shortcuts) just by using another one of HIS machines, rather than waiting for us to do it. But bleepingcomputer or Wilders or DSLReports are all great (and ...

Re: 1.0.9.6.1 very slow? win7

No, helpdesk.txt only refers to UltraVNC SC (single click), not the regular UltraVNC product.

If things are slow you can try turning on the "mirror driver", first and foremost, and then try reducing your screen resolutions. There are other tweaks; you might want to read our FAQ section.

Re: Linux viewer using SecureVNCplugin.dsm

I know you are; you said as much in the first post. But I don't think such a thing exists, so I offered an alternate approach.

You could also just run a Windows session in a virtual machine on your Linux box.

UltraVNC is limited to Windows. SecureVNC is limited to Windows.

Re: Kaspersky+Win7+UVNC Help!!

Go to ShieldsUp (google it) and do a port scan from the problematic machines, to see what ports are open (especially 5900 or whatever their listening VNC port is). Try uninstalling Kaspersky completely, and check for any other software firewalls. Install a secondary remote control service ...

You should probably go the wrapper approach (SSH or something similar) to secure your VNC connections cross-platform.

Re: getting name

Right click the system tray, select List All Clients, write down the IP address (e.g., x.x.x.x), click Start, type CMD, and type nslookup x.x.x.x Note that, if you're connecting over the Internet, this provides the DNS name associated with the public IP address of the connecting machine, NOT ...

Re: Unusual problem in using uVNC

So do you mean that NO inbound tests are working? No RDP and no VNC? The repeater would be fine (though slower) but if your inbound ports are a problem you'd have to host the repeater somewhere ELSE. Try going to ShieldsUp (google it) and run a few inbound port scans. Are you sure the ADSL modem ...

Re: Using UltraVNC to spy

Looks as if "GBridge" is a separate product/service that uses Google Talk to establish remote control sessions. Regular UltraVNC creates some log files (and changes its system tray icon color) when sessions are established, but I have no idea if GBridge's customized version of it does. You should ...

And allow me to get back to the port forwarding question. Yogesh, you keep saying that you've configured the ADSL modem/router to "open" required ports, but you've not yet told me that you are in fact FORWARDING those ports to a local private IP address of a target server in your LAN. Are you? For ...

Okay, you're reading way more into this than I was. I didn't think they were all trying to hit separate login sessions; at most I thought they might occasionally add view-only users to an existing session. Notice that from the description, NONE of the remote users are getting in. Only the LAN user ...
