Online/Offline Status based on Viewer?

Has anyone ever toyed with displaying Online or Offline Status (or Available/Not Available) on a web page based on the availability of a viewer turned on in listening mode? I'm looking for suggestions.

I'm referring to an SC-type implementation from a website.

Re: Single Click - change the look & delay after start

In your helpdesk.txt file, delete this line:

[DIRECT]

Re-Compile, and using that version, your user will have to provide input to connect.

Add e-mail function to SC?

Has anyone out there done this? Is there a way for a us to add an e-mail function to SC? Maybe an add-on to the txt file, or an add-on to the executable? I know there are prerequities for this, but I'm surprised I couldn't find anybody wanting to do this. I realize that the SC Concept is lightweight ...

Re: New UVNC user, having difficulty with SC on 'net

Alright...let's close this out. I found the problem. Vista, like XP before it, as it comes from hp & various other manufacturers, has several add-ons that are useless to most folks. We all know that. Normally, I wipe the hard drive & re-install so I KNOW WHAT I HAVE. Vista has changed that concept ...

Re: New UVNC user, having difficulty with SC on 'net

Making prgress here. I have isolated my problem to a config within Vista. Here's the deal--I dropped in a plain-Jane XP machine behind my router. I turned off the XP Firewall, installed VNC 1.0.5, updated my router to give the XP machine the same rules that the Vista machine, and IT WORKS. Something ...

Re: reverse connection exe

You can do this with SC. Pull up your helpdesk.txt file, and use the '[DIRECT]' command. Note that if you have multiple connection options in your file for your user to choose from, only the first one is valid after adding DIRECT.

Re: New UVNC user, having difficulty with SC on 'net

Here's my sap story...an attempt to make this same thing work using the internet. 192.168.1.97 is still my Vista machine running the viewer in listen mode (listening on the same default port...5500), and 24.214.10.146 is the origin of the client running the SC executable. Same results running the ...

Re: New UVNC user, having difficulty with SC on 'net

Here's my LAN Success Log--192.168.1.1 is the machine running the SC executable. 192.168.1.97 is my Viewer running in listen mode. No. Time Source Destination Protocol Info 13 1.860859 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.97 TCP Transmission Control Protocol, Src Port: opennl (1258), Dst Port: fcp-addr-srvr1 (5500 ...

Re: New UVNC user, having difficulty with SC on 'net

 Last note for the evening. I configured & tried each of my two routers (for the viewer PC) for complete IP Passthrough and gave VNC, as well as telent as described above, a shot. Same results. Thinking that the machine running the viewer (Vista machine) might have a firewall issue that would ...

Re: New UVNC user, having difficulty with SC on 'net

Thanks for your help. That sets my direction, at least. I tried a traditional Server setup before I posted...it was the same result. It worked great on a local/private network, but when I stand it up on the internet, I have the trouble. Thanks for the telnet advice...I didn't think of that. My ...

Re: New UVNC user, having difficulty with SC on 'net

Sounds very similar to my problem. To change the port from the default 5500 regarding the viewer, from command line, it is: C:\Program Files\UltraVNC> vncviewer.exe -listen 5501 This example would run the viewer in listening mode on port 5501. I'm open to suggestions from anyone. I believe we can ...

Re: New UVNC user, having difficulty with SC on 'net

Very interesting... Specifically what I am not seeing on the Viewer PC Network when the SC program is initiated from a computer on the internet is the VNC protocol from the computer running SC. I see the TCP from the SC computer, but not the VNC 'next step' which seems to initiate the success from ...

New UVNC user, having difficulty with SC on 'net

I am happy to have found this treasure! VNC is an awesome product, and while I've known of it for years, only now do I have a good application for it personally. The viewer is a home implementation, so I have admin on the home computer, as well as the DSL Router. The SC portion would be for my ...
