Re: icon1.ico 32x32? Looks jaggy on Vista

Rudi De Vos wrote:It's possible, but not with the online creator.

You need a resource editor that can replace the icon by the new style icons. The command line editor we use can't do it.
Thanks for the help, I'll do some googling on that.

Thanks again for all the help! Sorry to be so nit-picky.

Re: icon1.ico 32x32? Looks jaggy on Vista

a vista icon is 200k and can't be compressed... SC is 180k That sure puts things in perspective. So nothing can be done to improve? Going to an icon larger than 32 x 32 won't help or just isn't possible? And there is no way to use a Vista icon and just accept that the SC will grow by 200k? Thanks ...

icon1.ico 32x32? Looks jaggy on Vista

Hi!

My SC app icon (32x32) looks fine on XP desktops. But on Vista, it seems Vista increases the size and it gets jagged.

Is it possible to use a larger icon file so Vista doesn't have to upsize it?

Are there standard sizes for icon files?

Any/all input on icons is appreicated.

Re: Don't understand [DIS_UAC]

See if this page: Windows 7 - Elevated Command Prompt can help. Yep, I do that, but... I am logged in as a limited account, so I have to enter the login name/password for the admin account. Once I've done that, I can't seem to use that elevated command do get much done. In XP, I could do "explorer ...

Re: Don't understand [DIS_UAC]

Another option that would work, but doesn't... "Back in the day" of XP, I'd supply a user with a machine that had a limited user account and also an account with admin privs. If I had to help them remotely, I'd have them run the SC client and get into their limited account. I could help 'em w/ E ...

Re: Don't understand [DIS_UAC]

For verify, you may try to run your SC.exe with an Admin user to see if it can run as what I supposed to be. Yep, that works just as you'd expect it to. Shame I can't figure out a way to make it work as a limited user. I suppose I could explore ChunkVNC, but kinda like the simplicity of SC. I tried ...

Don't understand [DIS_UAC]

I guess I don't understand what "[DIS_UAC]" is supposed to do. I'm using the online creator (UltraVNCSC update 2009). I've added "[DIS_UAC]" and "[DIRECT]" to my helpdesk.txt file directly after my "[HOST]" entries. I upload the ZIP file and take the resulting EXE to a Win7 machine for testing. The ...

SC w/ limited user accounts?

From time to time I run into a user that is running in limited user mode. SC won't work in this case. And I guess that makes sense, as a limited user should not be able to download and run an app that gives someone else access to the PC. :) I could have them RunAs and give them an admin password ...

Status of online creator/forks/vista?

Are there any online creators that are compatible with Vista (disabling Aero I guess is the key), that also work with the .txt formatted files and the icons and logo? If not, are there plans to update the online creator with Vista support? There seem to be quite a few downloadable compilers but the ...

Can't get icon to display in Vista

I have used the online creator to generate my SC executable. It works great. But, I'm having a problem getting the icon I designed to display correctly on Vista machines (it DOES display correctly on XP machines, however). Any ideas? I've kept the size at 32x32, and tried various color depths. I ...
