Possible solution for folder access problem in Vista

I posted a while ago in [topic=12577]this thread[/topic] about a problem I had accessing folders in File Transfer on a Vista machine. The problem was that certain folders, for example My Documents, came up blank, with the message: Error: media is not present in the remote drive Several suggestions ...

Re: File Transfer won't access certain folders in Vista

As mentioned in my first post, I always have the option to install as service and restart service ticked on install. I also double checked these settings.... both when I ran 102 and RC15.

Re: File Transfer won't access certain folders in Vista

Hi there, Yeah, as I said, I understand slightly more who's who now. And yes, all help is greatly appreciated! Hmm, odd you don't see the batch file! heh. OK, I got my friend to update to RC15. I am still having problems, as follows (remember XP SP2 viewing Vista Home Premium, believe 32bit without ...

Re: File Transfer won't access certain folders in Vista

X3, to reply to what you said: 1. My error was with FILE TRANSFER only in VISTA. I therefore did a thorough search for a) Error: media is not present in the remote drive b) File transfer c) Vista Suggestions there included installing the service (done), copying the service starter into all users ...

Re: File Transfer won't access certain folders in Vista

Thanks for the clarification. No, I'm not distrustful of you or your code per se, but when a third person posts it with no explanation of how to use it, or what the enclosed batch file is for that is trying to connect to an unknown server, it seems somewhat suspicious. It is quite hard to know who's ...

Re: File Transfer won't access certain folders in Vista

The domain in question isn't advantig.com, it is myvnc.com. The advantig part is a subdomain of myvnc.com. At no point did I ever mention advantig.com or question its authenticity. And, if I were to do a whois as you suggest, I get: Domain Name:MYVNC.COM Created On:01-Jan-1970 00:00:00 UTC Last ...

Re: uVNC site manager

Yeah, this is something I am missing from my days using RAdmin. For those that don't know, RAdmin has a Windows Explorer style to its 'viewer'. Think My Computer, with icons for each connection. If memory serves, you right click and create a new connection. It asks for a name and an IP address. It ...

Re: File Transfer won't access certain folders in Vista

Thanks for that. How do I update? Copy the files into the UltraVNC directory? And why is there a batch file that connects to someone else's system? winvnc.exe -connect etc::5501 The domain redirects to no-ip. I don't think I want to be running this script! I'll go look for the official info on RC15 ...

File Transfer won't access certain folders in Vista

I have used UltraVNC for a while now. I usually prefer to run stable versions of software, so have been using 1.0.2. This has been no problem on XP. I have always been able to configure the network successfully and run file transfer successfully. However, I installed 1.0.2 on a Vista machine, and ...
