Server service running, still cannot access before login
On Windows 7 I am running UVNC server as a service ("uvnc_service", automatic, started, Logon to Local System account w/allow interact w/desktop). If I start the PC but do not login I should be able to remote in to the PC, no? I cannot. If I do log in to Windows I can remote in without any problem ...

Re: Compiler entries
Hummm OK, Looking for ver 3.3 but more importantly my ports 5500 & 5901 shows as closed at that tool you pointed me to. Port 5900 shows as open! My web security & firewall is turned off for this test and in the router all 3 forwards are identical (ie 5900>5900, 5500>5500, & 5901>5901). Perplexing!!

Had some trouble with my UVNC SC setup... It just stopped working one day. Verified everything set same as it was. No help. Deleted all UVNC and updated to newest ver. Even rebuilt the remote client and still cannot get it to work. Works on-LAN via IP but not using my static IP from outside my LAN ...

Re: Common mistakes with creator tool
A section of my helpdesk.txt file looks like this:
[HOST]
Remote support
-connect remotesupport.dyndnsname.net -noregistry
Does that last line above look OK?
It has no http:// and no port identified.
Thanks!

Re: DSM plugins
ChunkVNC is close to SuperEasyForDummies UltraVNC, with the big exception that it relies on a valid repeater setup. But the security is pretty much baked in. Trying this next. QUESTIONS: Can the repeater be the VNCserver machine I want to connect to? Must each machine I want to connect to have it's ...

Re: DSM plugins
SecureVNCPlugin the very easy to use for dummy but require uvnc 1.0.8.2 or above. Check install the SecureVNCPlugin.dsm to exact same folder of winvnc and vncviewer (never sub folder) Check just select it and update your vnc password longer and press OK on winvnc and select close winvnc Check. To ...

Re: DSM plugins
I see you're stuck on using the browser (Java) version of the viewer for its convenience... The Java viewer in the past has not supported DSM plugins; I don't know if the new one will. After much time learning more about viewer options (thanks guys) I have moved from the Java/Browser version (due ...

Re: Good connection but no remote control
When you connect with the remote VNC viewer, you'd use myname.dyndns.org::15900 -- NOT the same port number you'd use for the web client! Again, the web client's port number is ONLY for delivering the Java applet. Ah. No, I was using the same port in the viewer as I was in the web client. Excellent ...

Re: Good connection but no remote control
Re: "Problem #1", you don't need to keep using 5800 and 5900 on the WinVNC server itself -- just change the listening ports in the WinVNC server properties to match the ones you want your router to forward! I do not know what each port is for. I know that when I did have it working I had opened 3 ...

Re: Can connect to server by remote viewer
Calling it a "URL" is a bit confusing. Those are for browsers... You're just giving an Internet host name and port to the VNC viewer application. It should work. But you may need to use two colons. Try starting VNC Viewer and entering myname.dyndns.org::5900 Same thing, still not working even w/ 2 ...

Re: Good connection but no remote control
You can do both, using the USB stick ordinarily but leaving the web version available on an obscure port with a good password. I don't understand doing both. If the server has encryption=ON then I cannot use the browser method, which is limited to an 8-bit, unencrypted password. Right? If I can ...

To use the URL (rather than the IP) from inside the LAN (from a pc other than the server) fails too.

Re: Can connect to server by remote viewer
CANNOT connect to connect to server using the viewer while off LAN and using the URL. This part not clear for me. If I am not on my LAN (so am outside the NAT & cannot use IP to address host) I must address the server by URL such as myname.dyndns.org:12345. So, using the viewer off-LAN and ...

Can connect to server by remote viewer
CAN connect to connect to server using the viewer from any PC on my LAN & using the IP address. (So PC firewall must not be issue?) Re: Good connection but no remote control
OK, I don't know why I'd assumed the VIEWER was a LAN-only tool and across the internet I'd use a browser. Hated that via a browser the 8 character password limit. I can carry the viewer on a flash drive I almost always have with me and thus use a DSM plug-in BUT THEN, if I should get stuck w/o my ...

Re: Good connection but no remote control
So you are saying I can use the viewer app across the internet the same way as I would use a browser? Enter the URL:port and voilà ? I suppose then I can also use DSM encryption...B wrote:I was just saying you should test with UltraVNC Viewer (the program) instead of using the browser (Java) viewer.

DSM plugins
I see several DSM plugins exist and I see some documentation comparing them but aside from not fully understanding everything there I haven't seen a comparison based on how you plan on using it. In my case I have a UVNC server PC that I can access via any browser from anywhere by opening a web URL ...

Re: Good connection but no remote control
mudshark, wish version support java port forwarding success? I do not understand. incoming 12345 --> 5800 --> 5900 outgoing 5900 ---> 5800 --> 1245 Here you show ports forwarding twice. Again, I do not understand. There are OUTSIDE (public, incoming) ports and private ports inside the LAN that go ...

My guess is mudshark would have the SAME issue when using the standard VNC viewer from the remote machine. Could you confirm, mudshark? I do not know what you mean by "using the standard VNC viewer from the remote machine." See below for what I know and what I am trying to do. I think your "12345 ...

known issue - there not possible to double nat with javaviewer, unsupported for now. or bug ? Not doing double NAT. The symptoms as previously listed are unchanged. I didn't mention it but I am trying to access the ...

I noticed something the other day when support a remote user. I set to LISTEN for the connection and connected to them when they ran the support exe. So far so good.
