UVNC helpdesk support usage
I do helpdesk support for people. I wonder if it is possible to get the users to download uvnc and then for me to talk them through installing and setting up for me to logon to their pc. Would it be feasible to talk people through (bearing in mind most of my users are not very pc literate).

Re: Really Slow
Thats a damn shame, as it looks like pcHelpware will be going in the bin for me due to the slowness and unreliability. Could have been excellent.

Re: SC download
Strange thing is the exact same file works from my desktop, Unless it gets corrupted on the upload, which would be unusual. The download states completed sucessfully and it goes through the steps but wont open. Hmm.

Re: SC download
Yes I understand that. However the problelm I'm having is that when I get users to download my .exe it won't let me connect to them. When I download the .exe myself it won't connect, but when I just open the same .exe saved on my desktop it will connect. Why would this happen? (it is the file on my ...

Re: Some people can't connect?
That EchoVnc sounds good. Maybe better than SC and PcHelpware in fact. Sounds like a good alternative to the expensive Gotoassist and Logmein Rescue. Is it as good and as fast as these? Hope so.

SC download
I have setup single click and pchelpware. SC works from my pc, when I hit connect it does (multiple screens as it is same pc), however I have uploaded it to my website and I can successfully download it. However when downloaded for some reason it doesn't connect (despite being the same file). Any ...

Re: Some people can't connect?
How do I update sc to allow proxy authentication? I know some of the customers definitely have proxy, thus maybe that's why I can't connect to them in the first place, never mind about all this port stuff? Products like gotoassist, logmein don't have these issues however. I would love to get SC or ...

Re: Some people can't connect?
So why don't we all just use it on port 80 instead of 5500. That way we should always be ablel to connect...no?

Re: Really Slow
Any method to get it to run when user clicks on the exe. Or do I have to: 1. Get connected to users pc 2. When control gained download and load driver on users pc myself 3. Hope he doesn't get worried about what I'm doing and close me out (ahem) Is there a way to repackage the exe to use the video ...

Re: Some people can't connect?
How do I change SC or PcHellpware to use port 80 or 443? Surely it's not as simple as changing 5500 to 80 in the textfile... else why woulldn't 80 always be used?

Re: Some people can't connect?
The users don't mention any pop up's to allow the outbound connection like you mention (I be talking with them on phone as they do it). When using SC they mention ballon popup stating 5min try period etc, however it does nothing on my end. I know it should work because it works with other people I ...

I doubt if they've locked themselves out. They have internet access fine etc. I don't know the site setup's, as I didn't set them up. However I do know the pc's I try to access are likely to come through a router and maybe possibly even through a server (domain based). They aren't running vista ...

Re: Some people can't connect?
Nope I have opened port 5500 for myself to use.
I can connect to some people from my work pc (for example my home pc and my mum's work pc), however I cannot connect to some customers and I'm unsure as to why.

Re: Wonderful! Uvnc/sc difficult: PChelpWare...
Only thing is... I find PcHelpware much slower and thus a lot less pleasant than sticking with Uvnc/SC. More pleasant to setup and get logged onto 2nd users pc, but more importantly... less pleasant to use.

PcHelpware vs SC speedwise
I've tried PcHelpware and don't get me wrong I do like the program. However speedwise I find it much slower and thus not as slick as SC. Now this may be because PcHelpware has enccryption whereas I am not using encryption with SC. However the difference is such that I much prefer to use SC as ...

Re: Pchelpware vs vnc sc filesizes
Very interesting. Not sure what that 1CHATDLL.dll is about. I think I'll have to just live with the 300+kb. On a broadband connection it isn't too bad anyhow, so long as both parties have broadband. I've been reading pchelpware is slower than SC though, which is concerning. Must look into this also ...

hmm ok... thats interesting. Maybe I shall customise my background some more in that case. Wonder what is causing the large filesize and if it can be cut down in any way.

Re: Pchelpware vs vnc sc filesizes
Ok. I have managed to get it with only the connect and quit buttons and it has a nice slick look and feel to it. I can live with it displaying pchelpware. My only real issue now is: How do I get the filesize down. The default background is a whopping 83.4kb and I suspect this is causing the large ...

Think I've just discovered how actually. Use resource hacker and under dialog, 2067. Change top line to: eg. 136 DIALOG 0, 0, 100, 75 or whatever and hit compile script... et voila!

Re: resize images
I know what you mean pablot. Good question. I wanted to simply have a connect and quit button with a 1kb background like SC, instead of the huge 85kb one. Unfortunately I don't know how but I'd also be interested if anyone does.
