Re: deiconify on bell??

Hey thanks for the quick reply! Just kidding, I just *HAD* to make a comment seeing a reply to a three-and-a-half year old message. Funny I had this topic set to notify me with replies. Seriously, though, thanks for the answer, NoFastidies. I'm guessing "de-iconify" means having something to do with ...

I'm looking to upgrade a couple remote servers as well and could use some assistance on the best menthod about doing this. Re: viewer freezes with black screen

@gbinnovations: No, I didn't resolve this. I still suspect the AOL software. I'm not going to solve it, acutally, because we dropped that client and their pesky computer. Sorry I could not be more help.

@kaldag: I'm pretty sure I tried disabling the video hook driver without success.

viewer freezes with black screen

Hi all: Here is a weird situation. I have a Windows 2000 computer that has UltraVNC 1.0.2 Server running. When I try to connect to it using the viewer, I am prompted for the password, and after entering the correct password, I get the "please wait" text for a few seconds, then the viewer window goes ...

Good points. The new connection tab would be nice on the toolbar. Are there any UltraVNC fans out there that can make a nice icon for this? Who was it that made the nice icons for the logo and the green square with the eye? I would be tempted to scrap it and put a button in the menu bar. If we had a ...

+ "new connection" tab:
I have had about six or so sessions going with the servers on a 1024 width, and it gets to the point where you have to scroll the tab bar. Making the "new connection" tab smaller would help to eliminate this in some cases.

Not sure if this was mentioned already, but how about making the "new connection" tab small, as to not use up so much space on the tab bar. It could say simply "new", or just have a little icon indicating its purpose.

How about making the tabbed viewer remember its last window size and position? Reasoning: I run 1280x1024 on my desktop (viewer) and 1024x768 on my servers. Every time I open the tabbed viewer, I have to drag the bottom-right corner down to make the tabbed viewer larger than the 1024x768 server ...

Windows 98 does not support services. None of the Win9x/ME systems do. You have to have a Windows version based on the NT kernel for service support, i.e. NT/2000/XP/2003.

Rudi: This viewer is great. There are a few things that bother me: - At launch, I maximize the container viewer to my 1280x1024 desktop (on a secondary display). When I connect to a server running 1024x768, the 1.12 container viewer shrinks down to the size of the server window. I would like it to ...

Here's what I do: Make a connection the way YOU would like the DEFAULT setup to be, then close the connection. These settings are saved as the "options.vnc" file in your temp directory. Make this file read-only, and the vncviewer cannot overwrite your settings, even when the "save as default ...

Guest, If you are concerned about security when leaving the server running, then maybe the server package isn't the correct package for you. You may want to configure a single-click package which would be much cleaner on the "server" end. But in the given scenario, if you want the server to stop ...

Thanks, Redge, I forgot to add that info. My configurations for this occurrence are a combination of WinXP and Win2000 (happens on both), all running v1.0.1 or at least v1.0.0, and most importantly I do NOT use the video hook driver on the servers.

I run 1280x1024 resolution on my workstation, and when I connect to a uvnc server running the same, the auto-scale feature brings the viewer down to 85%, so no scrolling is needed. This is nice. I have a batch file that installs/upgrades UltraVNC for computers on my LAN (I don't use the video driver).
