Another XP SP2 issue

Post by mhilditch1 »

I also have an issue on an XP home machine that has just had SP2 loaded.

My problem is that when I attempt to connect via UltraVNC to another machine on the local network using the Java (web) interface on port 5800, all I get is the <Title> of the page being loaded and an image/applet placeholder.

I assumed that Java Applets were being blocked.

I have tried turning off the XP firewall, and also allowing ports 5800 and 5900 (not necessarily in that order) but still no go.

I even went so far as to set security levels in IE6 to low for every zone - although I know that the other machine is in the "Local Intranet" zone. I also added that machine to the "Trusted" zone, to see if it made a difference somehow. It didn't.

I have checked that the other machine DEFINATELY has Java Viewer enabled and is using the default ports - if it wasn't I wouldn't get the title of the page.

Is there something that I am missing? I figure there must be.

Any suggestions anyone?
