A new feature that would be really nice is a toggle for whether or not the viewer always stays on top in full screen mode.
We have a few users that use VNC almost exclusively for interacting with their Linux environment, but are frustrated by Ultra in that they can't keep the viewer full screen and switch between Windoes applications and their VNC desktop.
I've seen other comments that users like the always on top nature of the viewer, so why not make this a configuratble option that could be toggled?

Re: Fullscreen Always On Top
Is there a reason this feature (disabling "always on top" when in full-screen mode) hasn't been considered? When I ran into this problem I googled around and found lots of complaints/requests about this, but no reasons given on why it should be the way it is (always on top, all the time, non-configurable).
I've found a suggestion that could make it automatic (no user config) and even found a patch to add it as a user configurable option.
RealVNC free edition handled this just fine, but I had to switch away from it when switching to Windows 7. I then used TightVNC for a while, which also handled this just fine, but I want to switch away form it since it somehow mucks up keystrokes sent to the remote (seems to be only keystrokes including the CNTRL key, btw). I thought I'd found my savior with UltraVNC (works on Windows 7, doesn't muck with my hotkeys), but this problem makes it unbearable. Not being able to have an email or browser window open on top of the VNC session (using the remote as reference) is a huge inconvenience. My workaround for now is to have UltraVNC not in full-screen mode, but I spend enough time only dealing with the remote that full-screen would be much, much better (considering putting up with the horrible keystroke problems in TightVNC just to get full-screen back).
If there's a good reason for not at least having an option, I can accept that. But, all I've seen is the multiple complaints/requests, with no word on why this very big problem hasn't been addressed.

Re: Fullscreen Always On Top
Always onn top
reason
I'm using the same source for another program, this need to show the viewer on top of winlogon.
The changes aren't that big, and when this was requested in the beta test thread it was included.
Remember us to add it when we start on the next update.

Is there any plan to fix the problem?

Just want to vote for that feature.
Please consider that in your next release.

Re: Fullscreen Always On Top
I'm checking this feature...
It seems to work fine when you have the viewer on the secondary display, but on the primary the taskbar of the local PC put himself on top
of the fullscreen viewer. This makes the remote taskbar unreachable ...
I'm just wondering if we can't set always ontop -> primary and top for secondary.
This avoid the taskbar issue.
How does other softwares do it ?

I like the way Real VNC handles that.Rudi De Vos wrote:I'm checking this feature...

Real VNC allows to switch back to the host desktop by ALT+TAB.
I do not know if there is an option in Real VNC to select whether full-screen mode is always on top.
Using UltraVNC in full-screen mode, I would expect that it works like others do - for example firefox.
Press F11 for full-screen mode in firefox and you can switch to other programs with the help of ALT+TAB.
I would say this behaviour is "state of the art". If any other behaviour is needed (like always on top in full-sceen mode)
this should be enabled optional.
