How do I uninstall older versions, but leaving the latest version available

Post by fingerbone1970 »

Hi guys, I have computers with older versions still installed, I didn't uninstall when upgrading to the newer version via GPO; thought it would upgrade than install another version. I would like to keep 1.4.30 installed but remove the older versions, is there a way I can complete this?
Perhaps just remove them from the registry?
I would like to uninstall 1.3.81,1.4.20 but leave 1.4.30

Hope you can help

Normal UltraVNC install the new version over the old in the same folder.

If you have multiple versions then i suppose that it's installed in a different folder and each folder should have his own uninstaller exe in that folder.
You can run that exe or manual remove the old folder.

Possible you are using msi files...The behaviour could be different, never used them myself

Hi Rudi, we have the installation in one location, which is great and thought it upgraded, but when you go into Add Remove Programs, there are multiple versions.
Yes, using the msi with group policy works well.

I can't give an answer, sorry
I only can propose to check it on a local pc, install and upgrade and remove the old to see if files still exist.

If not painfully old version is installed, I will just run the installer right on top of the older version.

If it is a much older version, I'll use Windows control panel to uninstall. After that, I'll reboot and then go check that folders were deleted, and if not, delete them. Then I will run CCleaner to clean up the registry. After another reboot, I will run the latest installer and set it up as if new (which it now is). This has always worked pretty well for me.
