I know it is just cosmetic, but after installing the 1.4.0.9 x64bit version, I get notes for the 1.4.0.8.

Could it be that simple.
The logging is now logging the viewer name instead of the ip, but dns can take 20s to lookup.
building a version that log the old way

Yeah looks like I have the same issue. If there is no reverse zone for the ip range the viewer is on, it take 20+ seconds to connect (tested on 1.4.0.6). This does not occur on 1.3.8.1. Adding a reverse zone and having an entry for the viewer pc resolves the issue.

I do not log on the server, but I do have an incoming connection query window which display's the dns name of the viewer pc on the server.

I did some tests and with version 1.4.0.9 now the connection is fast, I no longer encountered latency problems with repetear. problem solved for me. Thank you

I installed 1.4.0.9 (todays release) on about a dozen PCs today. Then I realized the vncviewer.exe was still reporting 1.4.0.8. I checked the file dates. It appears the zip and .exe both have the old version of the viewer in the 64bit release. It appears the 32bit release of the viewer is current.
I appreciate all the work you do on this program. Thank you very much.

Hi, is your advice to always start with a fresh ini file of the current version, then change settings and deploy that ini file. Or as we do now for years use the same ini files for all versions? We don't use any new functionality.

New settings use the default until you change them, then the are added to the ini

What is the new logging.dll? Why is it it needed? The file description mentions MS-Logon.

I've updated two pc from 1.3.8.1 to 1.4.0.9 and we can not validate with ms-logon v1. The error registered on events viewer. samcli.dll 0xc0000005

Did some testing with 1.4.0.9 and just like in 1.4.0.6, when you set:

QueryAccept=2
QueryIfNoLogon=0

it auto accept the connection, but it should auto reject when user is logged in and accept when user is logged out.
In 1.3.8.1 it works fine, tested on 2 Windows 10 22h2 notebooks.

I tried updating to this version and when deployed out using the config we have always used since 2016, it seems like i'm unable to get any newer version to work properly via batch file. I have 1.3.60 that works well with the config and any version before that always worked fine. I tried updating to 1.3.81 when i updated the image last time around and it had an issue where once installed, no one was able to VNC into those machines any longer so I rolled back to 1.3.60. I'm having the exact same issue when I try going to 1.4.0.9. It pops up an error for the person trying to UVNC in and says unable to start VNC service on "insertmachinenamehere"

Can someone tell me if these switches have been deprecated in the new versions or something, i've looked around a lot but not finding much information about it.

Started with MS-logon I: could repeat it, working on this problem

I tried updating to this version and when deployed out using the config we have always used since 2016, it seems like i'm unable to get any newer version to work properly via batch file. I have 1.3.60 that works well with the config and any version before that always worked fine. I have tracked it down to something with the service on mine. It doesn't appear like it installs the service, almost like the service name changed possibly or something so the config isn't doing it properly?

You really need to change the version numbers when you make these incremental changes (like the one showing the wrong version as an example).

Not sure but this means, but I've beta tested SC and found out:

1. Non English characters appear as Gibberish in the bottom right popup - this is even when Windows is set to this language for non Unicode programs:
   
2. In 3 attempts, in 1 of them the mouse kept moving away from me! I hope it was a one time thing, but it never happened in pre v1.4 SC versions.
3. I can no longer automatically access UAC screens even if I add [DIS_UAC] to helpdesk.txt (which didn't include it in the sample you provided):
   
4. I can't test the new auto ID repeater mode since repeater01/02/03.ultravnc.info don't seem to work anymore...are there new public repeaters which I can use?

Repeater is running on support2.uvnc.com.

SC 2.0 is now the same as winvnc.exe.

Running Viewer is listen mode and connecting the Server to the Viewer with new connection is the same as SC.
SC is a graphical shell around the commandlines, all compressed in a self extracting exe.

Unicode: in SC 1.0 some changes ware made, let see if i can do the same for SC 2.0.
DIS_UAC still need to be added.

Mouse issue, winvnc should also have the same issue.

BTW, why did you change scprompt.exe to helpdesk.exe? It makes it harder to know it's about SC.
