UltraVNC for Application Sharing

UltraVNC can also be used for application sharing, i.e. can be used as a collaboration tool. For this purpose the server should not transmit the complete desktop but only the window in which the application is running. An alternative could be a resizeable frame on the desktop from which the contents is transmitted to the UltraVNC viewers. This feature would reduze the bandwidth and increase privacy because not everything on the server desktop is transmitted. The UltraVNC viewers should only be able to act on the desktop area inside the frame (if they are allowed to do according to the server settings).

UltraVNC has had that feature for a very long time.

I had heard it was broken, but user YY says it works.

Reading the references above, 14780, 3724 and 27920, I understood that this feature is not working. I am using the UltraVNC server 1.0.9.6. I also consulted documentation concerning UltraVNC, also the book from Torsten Wagner, Ultr@VNC, but was not able to get this feature working.

At https://forum.ultravnc.net/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=16673 redge says it never worked well anyway, and required narrowing the context to a specific window only AFTER the viewer had connected to the whole desktop, which somewhat defeats the purpose.

It would certainly be nice if it were either fixed or maybe just removed.
