Post by Futurepower(R) »

After upgrading to v1.0.9.5, I received this message when trying to do a file transfer: "The connected VNC server doesn't support UltraVNC file transfer".

The computer on which the server is operating is running Windows XP SP3.

Server version: 1.0.9.5

Viewer version: 1.0.8.2

In UltraVNC Edit Settings, the Input/File Transfer tab, these are both checked:
Enable
User Impersonation (for Service Only)

OS version: Windows XP SP3, 32-bit, both server computer and viewer computer.

No problems viewing or using File Transfer on other computers on the same network, with the same settings. The others are using Server version 1.0.8.2.

Viewers are backward compatible but new server require new viewer.

In case you connect with an 1.0.8/Realvnc/tightvnc viewer, connection is made in compatibility mode, only using components that exist for all flavors. No FT.

You need to use the 1.0.9.5 viewer.
This viewer is compatible with 1.0.8.x and 1.0.9.x servers

Viewer version 1.0.9.5 fixed the problem.

Thanks for your response. Updating to the 1.0.9.5 version of the viewer fixed the problem.

If you need help with the documentation, I volunteer.

Not really always.... I had 1.0.9.6 as server and 1.0.9.6.1 as viewer and file transfer was not possible. When I changed to the older viewer (1.0.9.6) it worked fine! Maybe a bug in 1.0.9.6.1?
