Who else would like to see file transfers able to be automated by invoking a list of files to be transferred and in which direction? It would make off-site backup of critical data a snap.
Any thoughts?

Automated file transfers
Re: Automated file transfers
It's up to Rudi what he wants to implement in uVNC, however this kind of feature really seems outside the scope of what VNC is trying to do.
There looks to be lots of ways to solve this problem using tools that are designed to deal with data backup directly.
While it would be nice for an all-in-one solution, it adds bloat and extra support resources that most people probably wouldn't use or even want.

Fair call, but by the same token any kind of file transfer support would then be "outside the scope". Given that there is file transfer support, and it is one of the features that makes UltraVNC a lay down misere as the best of the VNC flavours, (IMHO) it seemed (seems) to me that to raise it above primitive and repetitive point-and-click operation would be an enhancement rather than a new feature. Your points about keeping VNC mean and lean I agree with, and they may well be the decider. Not sure I agree with you about it being something most people probably would not want....if people like and use file transfer then surely making it easier to use has to be a good thing. And for me, it is all about an all-in-one solution, like PCAnywhere was when it was good. I guess one man's bloat is another man's feature rich package!

Re: Automated file transfers
It appears I misinterpreted your initial post as I read more into the data backup comment than the fact you were just requesting a simple automation feature.
It sounds fairly doable, so we'll see if Rudi likes it enough to do something about it.
