Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
I installed the 1.1 x64 version but was not able to install the driver.
Winvnc states driver is not installed.
Don't see anything in the event log...
I tried setupdrv.exe with admin priv and selected run as admin.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Config: Win7 Ultimate SP!

Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
Thanks for the feedback..
I could repeat it.
works on win7, fail on win8.
Looks like the OS is blocking it, seems to be a part of the win8 protection to avoid
that people remove the initial desktop ....!ç"è'ç!&è'ç!"è&çà'"
Why the hell can't we open win8 the way we want... without a touch screen the current interface
doesn't offer me anything extra.

Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
Ctrl+Alt+F4 (and the send-to-host-button) isn't working, too. Ctrl+Shift+Esc on the other hand works as expected.
Well, I'm just testing Windows 8 - and I don't know by now, what i should think about it. It's really fast, and with your system hook dll ultravnc is although real fast without the need of the driver.
But: what should I do with metro - sorry: modern ui - on a mouse-/keyboard-based pc with big monitor?

Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
I have to correct my priop posting. The send-to-button does work, but the window opened in background - so I didn't saw it when I tested it.
Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
xp installer works now, thanks for quick update.
noticed that if you install it as service which is started, it gives error when trying to add groups to "new ms logon", solution is stop service and then add groups.
about vncviewer.exe: did some tests and noticed that "-proxy server:port" option doesn't work properly, it reads server name but ignores port number completely, tries always to connect to port 5900.
this is what i try to test:
"vncviewer.exe -proxy server:5901 -connect workstation:5900"
from netstat:
TCP xx.xx.67.136:49599 xxxxxxx:5900 SYN_SENT
so it bang it's head to firewall.

setcad.exe
Hi.
What is the point of the setcad.exe?
I looked at the source code and found that the body of _tmain is empty so the function Enable_softwareCAD() which is defined in setcad.cpp is not beeing called at all.
Or did I miss anything obvious?
Cheers

Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
LOL, indeed it seems that it doesn't do anything.
It should change the registry to allow softwarecad.

"vncviewer.exe -proxy server:5901 workstation:5900" works fine
part from http://www.uvnc.com/docs/uvnc-viewer.html documentation:
---clip---
"%:\programfiles%\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -proxy host:5901 -connect hostname
"%programfiles%\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -proxy distributor:5901 -connect host -dsmplugin filename.dsm
---clip---
maybe a small bug in somewhere in code or documentation
and yes, xp addons cannot be installe nt 5.1 or later, wrong max version?
Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
testing new viewer and server:
i have this issue:
connect viewer and server to repeater using SecureVNCPlugin.dsm, viewer use many cpu and lock on "request password" screen
using viewer 1.9.6.2 and new server 1.1 i can input password but viewer close.
using new viewer 1.1 and server 1.9.6.2 i have a warning message (password can be haked) but it works good.
all test are been done with winvnc.exe 32bit (UltraVnc_bin.zip), on windows xp and windows7 32 and windows 7(64)
without securevncplugin.dsm it works good.

Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
Thanks this limit the search to the server part with plugin.
Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
Installed on a Windows 7 Pro 64bit machine (will be used as the client). Installed on a Server 2008 R2 Enterprise system (will be used as the server). I notice on both that after the install I had both the old version and the new version on the machine, with the old version running. I had to uninstall the old version and reinstall the new one to get it running and reporting the correct version number. I hope that will be more automatic when the new version is released...
On the server machine I launched the "Edit Settings" application and setup the correct passwords. When I attempted to connect from the client the password wasn't accepted. I went to the server machine and used the popup menu on the running server icon at lower right to bring up the admin properties. Changing the password there allowed the change to work. Any chance Edit Settings only edits the background database and the server is never told of the changes?
I really like the much snappier screen response!

Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
"Edit Settings" application it's just a ultravnc.ini editor.
Permissions are taken from the desktop user.
Using the editor, winvnc doesn't know options changed.
Changes take effect next time winvnc is restarted.

Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
SecureVNCPlugin with New MS Logon doesn't work. Viewer asks only for the password (instead of username/password combo) and things go haywire from there...
It does work if vnc password is configured on the server side instead of new ms logon.
Setup: Win7 x64 on both sides.

Cannot configure groups for the old ms logon. I can check it in the server settings editor. But as soon as I click "Configure MS Logon Groups" button I get a crash in uvnc_set:

Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
I thought this would mean the Fullscreen VNC window would stop bleeding a black line a few pixels into my right monitor, but I was wrong.-better multi monitor support
Is this at all fixable?
Code: Select all
Using AMD cards
1. Landscape 1920x1080 (centre)
2. Flipped Portrait 1080x1920 (to the right of #1)

Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
Please add this options to version 1.1
1. Check folder permission where uvc_service is installed . example if folder don't have permissions for SYSTEM account , now UltraVNC givs Failed: Permission denied but without any other info where is the problem .
2. Add option install as service with not default service name ( example for two instances ) example winvnc.exe -install -name=uvcs_service2
3. Add option run program after successful login on the server siede exaple in ultravnc.ini like RunProgram=C:\test.exe

Re: Feedback 1.1.0.0
1. Folder needs to be a secure folder ( program files /system32) else certain functions will not work.
This folders always have system account access.
2. Start/stop/install/uninstall service depend on the service name. Using a special service name require to save the service name in ultravnc.ini.
But then your second instance will also use that name.
We use shared memory between service/desktop part. If you run 2 instances then both wil use the same memory...this is unpredictable and
possible crash winvnc...
3. The program wil run as "system" on the logon desktop this is invisable.
What are you actual trying to do !

Example I deliver IT support for new company , but this company has two IT support partners - me and another company and this company have own UltraVNC instance ... I can uninstall and install my own UVNC installation / or change password. I would like to avoid that situation.Rudi De Vos wrote:1.
