The UltraVNC service is marked as an interactive service....

Post by dogfish182 »

...However , the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly.

Does anyone know how to stop this error from happening? I've made an install that I'm very happy with and deployed to about 5 machines however I first encountered this one on 64bit win 7 machines. I thought it was incompatibility with 64bit and most of our machines are win7 and 32bit. However now it has begun to show up on a 32bit machine as well which was previously working.

It just makes the machine not contactable at all. Firewall is not enabled and it just shows a 'failed to reach server' message.

the service is already marked as 'allowed to interact with desktop' from the services menuso I'm not sure what's going on.

Perhaps your domain administrator pushed through a new, more restrictive policy?

Remove it from the service option, it's not required to make vnc function.

thanks for the feedback guys. I'm a little embarrassed as while making some changes to our VNC deployment I had wanted to disable the java port but ALSO disabled the incoming port by accident. The event log message about this I noticed while trouble shooting that, so it's a bit of a red herring I think. Well, at least after a rebuild/redeploy of the software with the incoming port enabled (duh) the software just does what it is supposed to. I'm not sure about the event log message but it doesn't affect function.

I should note that the service having 'interact with the desktop' is something that defaults to on which isn't something I'm going to turn off on all machines (since it works now).
