UltraVNC SC (New user sorry)

Hi team,

I was looking to create remote support via internet.

Had a look at the product and it looks really good.

I created the exe as instructed by it does not work for me

I have it pointed to a win 2008 box

Should I have any ports open on my firewall?
I have disable the firewall on the win2008 box.

I have a dynamic ip and uses some third party like dynamic dns or no ip to get that resolve.

Please advise.

Did you encode the dynamic DNS name (not IP address) in the SC creator?

Are you running the viewer in listening mode on the Windows 2008 box?

Yes, you'll need to forward port 5500 (though I suggest you pick another one).

Ok got it to work without encryption will try with soon and post update.

Hi guys,

I am new to this so I try my best to explain what I done.

Created the custom package, modified the helpdesk file.

Then installed ultra vnc 6.5 which also install the viewer and a server.

I can ping the windows 2003 machine from external my network.

I can telnet on 5500 port of that machine.

Changed the port of the server to 5500 as it was 5900
I have smoothwall express as firewall.
Opened the internal 5500 and 5900 ports.

I still can not get it to work at all.

Could anyone help me pls.

There is no windows firewall running on the 2003 box.

raj, are you sure you understand the concept?

The VIEWER is the one who needs to be listening, with his router/firewall's port forwarded in.

The SERVER (WinVNC) does not need to have any ports forwarded in a normal reverse-connecting UltraVNC SC (as opposed to regular UltraVNC client/server) situation.

So is your Windows 2003 machine running the VIEWER, or is it the machine you wish to take CONTROL OF?

If the latter, I think you want to be using regular UltraVNC, not the SC variant... ?

Ok my fauly there and appologies.

Got things to work and I am not sure about one thing only.

In the new version of ultravnc there is obly a securevnc plugin.

I just want to be sure if i put the server auth key in the custom package and put the client auth key in the viewer folder.


Just want to be sure that the connection will be secure.

Hope i asked the right question.
