Any feedback on SC (RC20)

Post by Rudi De Vos »

Looking at the downloads many people tried it.
But no feedback....

Usual that is a good sign, but without input status is unclear.
So i can also answer to the mails about the stability.

If it works or if you find a bug please let us know.

Mostly good here

So far so good for me on RC20.2. I upgraded from 19.6. I was having many file transfer problems and random disconnections with RC19 - RC20.2 seems to have the majority of my problems with the RC19 line.

However I'll echo one complaint that I saw someone make. RC20.2 just seems to have a little less "pep" on slower connections (aka 28.8 modems, etc). It's just a tad less responsive. This could just be my imagination after reading others' posts though ;) Oh, and the B&W option is a God-send, I might add. Definately helps for those reallllly slow connections.

Also, as someone else mentioned, RC20 does take an awfully long time to cancel on bad IP addresses. Sometimes like three minutes before it will actually close its process after hitting cancel while trying to connect to a bad IP address. I usually terminate the process. In addition, on more than one occassion, when I connected to computers from my college LAN to someone outside the LAN using a modem, if I had the viewer set to Auto (for the "quick options"), it would sit there with a black screen for like 3 minutes and just up and close. If I select "SLOW" or manually configure options, I get in just fine. I can then re-select Auto once I'm on the connection and that will work too - but it keeps switching from 8 colors to 64 colors approximately every three minutes. That of course makes the screen freeze for about 15 seconds every time.
