ntbackup issue

I use UltraVNC listner and UltraVNC SC to do remote support for my customers. When I am connected to one of my client's computers and open ntbackup on their computer remotely it closes the connection and forces me to have them reconnect to me. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

update your SC or replace with solution chunkvnc or scprompt compatible vnc open source.

I am confused why the SC would be the problem. I just created a new one less than a month ago.

There are some know issue's with ntbackup and rdp. (google)
Ntbackup seems to be bound to the concole session...

Posisble this trigger some reaction on sc that require a reconnect.

So does this mean that SC uses rdp? If so is there anyway around the ntbackup issue using SC?

No, UltraVNC never uses RDP (I wish it did!). As to your NTBackup issue, I would experiment to see whether running the UltraVNC server as a service instead would help; I'm guessing it will.

If it does help, you might want to look at ChunkVNC or SCPrompt, either of which makes it easy to deploy a "single click" VNC as a service.

Which machine should I run it as a service on? My computer, or the remote one I am trying to open ntbackup on?

The remote one, the one being controlled -- the issue is with the VNC server. You're running the client (viewer).

Then I cannot use the ultraVNC SC on the remote machine. I use that so my customers can download from my website and allow me to remote control their machines. Do you know of a fix for the SC?

No, but again I haven't used SC in a long time -- it might support service mode now.

Again, I know that both SCPrompt and ChunkVNC, which are both based on UltraVNC and work very similarly to UltraVNC SC (and are both similarly free and open source) <b>do allow</b> you to install in service mode.

I tried out SCprompt and am happy with it for the most part. I do however have some questions about it

1. How do you configure for a RC4 encrypted connection?

2. Is there a way to turn on the ballon descriptions when hovering over a taskbar icon?(E.G. hover over av icon to see version. It shows on server, but not client)

3. Is there a way to change the "VNC2Me" ballon on server to something custom?
