Request and Notification for Remote Control Availability

Post by bcssomadude »

You know what would be really nice? I wish I could tell UVNC to send a computer control request to a remote machine. The mechanism would pop up a notice to the user saying "Billybob is requesting permission to take control of your computer. Do you consent? If you do not reply to this message within XX minutes, Billybob will assume you are not at your computer and will proceed with completing whatever Billybob needs to do."

And there would be a "Yes" button, a "No" button, a "Wait" button (if they press wait I would hope for an explanation e-mail)

There would also be a countdown specified by the initiater (myself). So if I send this mechanism and set it for 30 seconds, if I don't get a user response in 30 seconds, I would receive a notification on my VNC viewer saying "user has not replied within specified time frame" and I can assume no one is at the computer and I can do what I need to do as the IT adminstrator. This would allow me to keep working on things while a standard transfer of computer control is conducted.

What do the developers think? Would this be hard to do? Is there VNC software that already allows for what I'm trying to accomplish?

We are running Windows XP on all of our computers.

Thanks for listening,
