PCHelpWare 1.0 under Ubuntu, Linux, Wine... almost

Post by permutation-jim »

Folks,

I've gotten PCHelpWare 1.0 (the client) to run on Ubuntu (8.04 Hardy Heron) through Wine 1.1.0 and have used it to "see" the server running on an XP machine (hurray!). I've also set up a tracking page for it on the Wine AppDB (where testing and configuration details are listed for Windows apps running under Wine) here.

As has been stated, the keyboard doesn't work (weird), but I've used the XP on-screen keyboard (part of Accessibility) in a pinch. Also, others have reported that the grey bar across the top causes problems, though I've not experienced it.

If someone could figure out the keyboard problem, we'd be back in business.

Thanks, Jim
