-NOJPEG option please

Post by edokter »

It's nice to have TightVNC's jpeg encoding included, but it is not so nice to NOT include the -NOJPEG option. I can only turn it off in the options dialog before connecting. But the option is NOT saved, and cannot be used in the command line. This means I cannot disable JPEG in a preconfigured connection or from the command line (shortcut).

Please add the option to disable JPEG by default.

but it is not so nice to NOT inspect the documents to find where it tells that you can open the same connection options dialog with JPEG options, from titlebar context menu or by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F6 during the session.

You didn't read my post very well...

My point is I want to be able to configure it as default, which currently is simply not possible. I want to be able to configure it in the .vcn file, or on the command line, so that I don't have to do it when I am already connected, which is a major drag...

In addition, I've reported this bug before but it seems to have vanished (wonder if anyone even looks at bug reports - doesn't seem to be much activity on this project):

When I connect with UVNC Viewer to UVNC server, the viewer disappears (i.e. crashes silently) when attempting to connect. This happens consistantly on every attempt. I have found that disabling the JPEG compression checkbox and then connecting solves the problem. This is a serious bug by itself.

To make things worse, as mentioned here, this checkbox option is never saved, and every time I connect I have to do this manually in order to be able to connect.

Both bugs should be solved for UVNC to be usable...
