Problem with SC not opening

Post by Ohtime »

Hello All,

I am learning with your help, but slow or maybe I am just slow?

Your answers to my first set of questions made me take a step back and go slower. I am doing all of my testing on my home network. Then will move up to the internet.

I have the “server” running on PC Win98 se (192.168.0.2) and the “viewer” running on PC XP-pro sp2 (192.168.0.3) Works good.

I now want to test “SC” on the XP machine. I open up “Custom.zip”. I made minor changes (put my name in) Zipped it and up loaded it to http://sc.uvnc.com/cgi-bin/upload3.pl. I then save the exe file. When I run the exe file I just saved it does not open it just places the icon down by the time. I now try to make the Exe with out making any changes to the txt file. Same thing. I try to run it on other machines, same thing. I make the Txt then Exe file as it should be, same thing.

I did make one custom SE file that does open as it should when I was doing my testing over the internet. I cannot find the txt file I used to make that one. But the Exe opens fine

I do not see how I can be screwing this up as the Txt file is very simple. I can list it if you want to see it.

If it matters this is how I am starting the “viewer”.
“C:\programs files\ultravnc\vncviewer.exe” –listen

Thanks for the help…..Larry

Well I just got it to work (after two weeks). I did say I was slow right!!

I must have missed the part of the instructions that tells you to NEVER change the name from Helpdesk.txt When I created a new ver I would give it a new name. They do not work with different names.

I hope this helps the next slow guy.

Thanks

Larry
