Hi, I am running UltraVNC 1.01 on Windows 2000 sp4 and am experiencing some problems with my nVidia Dualview setup.
I have a GeForce 6600GT and have two monitors connected to it. One is a 15" 1024x768 TFT monitor, the other is a 17" monitor that I run at 1280x1024.
I use UltraVNC to connect to a desktop computer that is running at 1152x864 pixels.
My 1024x768 TFT monitor is the primary display.
Now I think there are 3 problems, which all point to the same cause. I'll give the three problems first:
1.
When I run UltraVNC, it opens all the windows on the primary display. No matter how many times I drag a window to the secondary monitor, every new UltraVNC window opens on the primary display. Including the viewer windows.
The result is that every time I connect to my remote computer, the window opens in 1024x768 on the primary display. So every time I have to drag the window to the other display and have to resize it.
2.
When I resize the viewer window, the 'canvas' inside the window only resizes to the maximum of 1024x768. So when I resize the viewer window to i.e. 1280x1024, I can still only see 1024x768 pixels of my remote desktop. Any pixels beyond 1024x768 are black, i.e. the 'canvas' gets bordered by a black band towards the left and the bottom.
I can't explain it any better, if anyone wants I can probably make a screenshot.
3. When the viewer window is on the secondary display and I switch to fullscreen, the UltraVNC toolbar gets displayed on the primary display and the viewer display simply disappears instead of being shown fullscreen.
Also, when I switch back to windowed mode, the viewer window goes black. Nothing will restore it to show the remote desktop again, except dragging the window to the primary display, minimizing it, and restoring it again. After that action, the viewer window seems to work correctly again.
If the viewer is dragged to the primary display, everything works correctly (except my primary display is 1024x768, while the remote desktop is 1152x864.
So, to me it seems that UltraVNC becomes confused on an nVidia Dualview setup. It doesn't seem to take in account that there can be more than one display which can both have a different resolution.
The 'solution' I have for the moment is to switch the primary and secondary display whenever I need to use UltraVNC, and switch them around again when I'm done. But that's not very user-friendly .
