ok, checked is OK
but MD5 is not sure, collision is possible, better authenticity now with SH3

Redge,

You always want more! :D

Do you have a SHA Checker you're using? Does anybody? I'll need something to test with I guess.

I use HashTab (MD5, SHA1, CRC-32), personally.

Ares,

Thanks for the info. I think both MD5 and SHA-1 are considered "broken" at this point. I noticed last night that RedHat has moved to SHA-2 using something called sha2sum but I can't seem to find it yet.

No, no, I'm just surprised because MD5 was not sure, and can be different after 1 hour.

If you need a hash summer that does directories and subdirectories, here's two command-line tools that can do the job:

http://www.codeproject.com/cpp/rehash.asp
http://www.slavasoft.com/fsum/

Also freeware. I can't find one with a GUI, like md5summer - my personal favorite, before MD5 was broken.

Ares,

Thanks! I need one without a GUI so I can script it. One of these should fit the bill!
