Hi Rudi,
minor bugs - right click winvnc.exe trayicon (run as service), choose "stop service" - and nothing happens, service remains running.
Also - there were handy possibility to stop and start service via setting dialog, which is now absent, but it was sometimes helpful.

Max FPS slider - displayed value doesn't change as you move the slider.

Start stop install uninstall wrks from the tray (desktop user is local admin)
You get the elevation popup (UAC) to gain the correct permissions, stop takes 5s on my system.

Adding it to the settings could be handy, this doesn't require imperonating the desktop user.
Imperonating can be blocked by policy preventing you to manipulate the service

It's a very minor error, just curious.
In the 50 line of UdpEchoServer.cpp, one mark(") is omitted. is it meant to be?
Every time building a new release version, the same omission causes a compile error.

Not sure if this is just me, but in every update from .10 to .13, it would install over the old version (usually 1.5.0.3) just fine, but it would not pick up the previous password. I would always have to go in to server settings and set it manually, and then go to the Windows firewall, and check off the exceptions for vnc and winvnc (I think those were the ones) in order to get it to work.

Has this been fixed int 1.5.0.14?

VNCHELP890, seems to work fine on my PC (Windows 11)

1.5.0.3 -> ultravnc.ini is in Program Files
Uninstalling 1.5.0.3 also remove this file

1.5.0.13 -> ultravnc.ini is in ProgramData or AppData
on uninstall this file is not removed

If you upgrade from 1.5.0.3 -> 1.5.0.13 then ultravnc.ini is copied to ProgramData and no password need to be set
original file is still at the old location (same folder as winvnc.exe)

The firewall was ok.

Just retested on a fresh Hyper-V / Windows 11

Also, when installing 1.5.0.14, when you fire off the installer, it does not list the changes/changelog for version .14

I have checked that this error has been resolved.

There was en error in version 1.5.0.13 that killed the server when using "custom message" popup.
Will also be fixed in 1.5.0.14

But custom popup message is still not working. Even if i saved messages on the setting page, I can`t see the saved message when i open the setting page again. Perhaps this is the reason why feature is not working. Conversely, the Notification Message from viewer works normally.

Good afternoon! Thank you for continuing to update UltraVNC. It is an excellent program that makes remote PC management possible. I am from Russia and actively use it in my work. Thank you for your efforts — it makes my job much easier. I would be very happy if you continue to improve it.

Here are a few issues I have encountered:

Program window issue: When I connect to another PC, work with it, and then disconnect, the program minimizes to the system tray. However, after that, the program window does not restore automatically, and to reconnect, I have to launch the client part again using the desktop shortcut. This is a bit inconvenient.
Hotkeys don't work: Copy and paste (Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V) do not work between Windows 10 on the local and remote computers. This creates additional difficulties.
Password protection for settings: I would like the user on the remote PC to be unable to close the program or change its settings without a password. For example, if I connect to a PC with a specific password, the same password could be used to access the program's settings. If the user tries to modify the UltraVNC Server settings, the program should prompt them to enter the password that I set.
I would also like to suggest another feature: the ability to organize the "tree" of connections not only by a list of PCs but also by their departments or categories. For example, I could group computers by company departments: "Accounting", "IT Department", "Warehouse". This would allow me to quickly find the necessary devices and manage them based on their purpose.

I would be very grateful if you could implement these features. Thank you for your work on the program! I look forward to your response, and I think other users would appreciate these improvements as well.

Working with the clipboard between machines has always worked using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Ins / Shift+Ins.
And the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V have never worked for me on a remote machine.

I would like to suggest two important features for the remote access program and address one issue:

Password protection for settings:
I want to be able to protect the program's settings with a password. When I connect to a remote computer using a specific password, that same password should also protect access to the program's settings. If someone tries to change the UltraVNC Server settings on the remote computer, the program should prompt for the password.
Grouping computers by categories:
There should be an option to organize computers not just in a simple list, but to group them by departments or categories. For example:
Accounting
IT Department
Warehouse
This would allow me to quickly find the needed computers and manage them according to their purpose.

Program closing issue:
When I connect to a remote computer, the main program window completely closes. Because of this, I have to reopen the program via the shortcut every time to see the connection window again. Why does this happen? Could it be changed so that the program window stays open after connecting?

UltraVNC Server running as Service :
ultravnc.ini is in ProgramData
Current there is an admin password that's needed by all non-admin users to access the settings
Administrators can read/write any files in ProgramData and are able to manual change all settings, that's the reason we don't ask the password for an administrator


Viewer organisation: There is a work in progress. A sepereted app will be in 2.0.
A wrapper around the Viewer that manages the connection data.
This will also solve the closing issue.

In the current version, you can make a new connection using the MRU (the right top IP Address is currently a dropdown with next to it a little button to connect).
