I found an old copy of pchelpware that I've had for a while and some of the accounts show the password while others don't. :|
Has anyone else experience this ?
Yes, but none of my passwords are shown. In the settings file "2020" is stored for all passwords regardless of what password I try to ...

Yes. (Well, I don't think they forgot about it, but it's not updated anymore.)niknil wrote:I see that this is two years old and the patch is still not included in the download package on the download page. Still two separate zip's. Does this mean that the devs dropped pchw altogether and forgot about it?

Re: Why no patched version for download?
In that case, I'd recommend a 10 minute break in order to fix it
. If it's of any help, I can offer a prepatched package that's available on rapidshare:

Why no patched version for download?
How come there's an unpatched PCHW version for download and a separate patch? Why isn't the patched version available for direct download?

Re: PcHelpWare vs. SC
If it's such a no-brainer, could you please explain the difference between RC23 based SC II and 1.0 based SC II?

Re: PcHelpWare vs. SC
5. Why would I choose SC or PCHW over one another?
I would choose PCHW. SC has forked into SC, RC23 based SC II, 1.0 based SC II and SC III rather than being one single program with different config options. The differences between them seem a bit overlapping too confusing for me to figure out ...

Pre-patched PCHelpWare for 1-step install
Right now, I need to install PCHelpWare on a couple of computers. Using the standard download, it's a multi step process of first unpacking the PCHW zip file, and then unpacking the DLLs patch, finding where the DLLs are in the PCHW file structure and then putting the new DLLs in the right places ...

Re: Any way to store password for the viewer?
I'm bumping this a bit; Does anyone have a "passwd" line in their phw file that says anything else than "2020"?

Re: What is the difference...
PCHW has out-of-the-box encryption, SC has not. If you use SC III via UVNC Repeater, you can get encryption via SSL.
Also, SC has forked into SC, RC23 based SC II, 1.0 based SC II and SC III rather than being one single program with different config options, which implies that PCHW is a healthier ...

Re: Any way to store password for the viewer?
That's odd. If I do that, the viewer starts but the server can't connect to it. What does the "passwd" setting in your phw file say? Mine always says "2020" regardless of the password I set. I've tried re-entering it and clicking "Save" a couple of times to no avail.

Re: Any way to store password for the viewer?
Does that work for you? What version do you run? I run 1.0 and that one just stores "passwd=2020" in the phw file, regardless of what password I enter.

Any way to store password for the viewer?
Is there a way to make the viewer remember passwords? I selected rather long passwords for my connections and it's inconvenient to enter them every time I start the viewer. The alternative is of course shorter passwords, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.
