The public or private IP address of the individual running the server doesn't matter. The IP address that matters is the individual running the viewer in listening mode. If you don't run the viewer from the same IP you could set up a repeater.

UltraVNC is better suited for that. Install the server running as a service and connect using the viewer whenever you want to connect.

Re: New UVNC User, I have some questions
You're describing using a repeater. [topic=9663]"Zero Configuration" PcHelpWare_viewer[/topic] shows an example of how you could do this with PcHelpWare which is similar to SingleClick. You can use the repeater01.ultravnc.info repeater to test it out, but you should set up your own repeater on PC A.

You could set up your own repeater and initiate the connection using outgoing traffic on both ends which don't require port forwarding.

Sounds like you set up port forwarding to a private IP address inside you LAN (as you should have), but set up the helpdesk.txt file with the private IP address as well. The helpdesk.txt file needs your public IP address or dynamic host name. You can see you public IP address by visiting WhatsMyIP ...

It's part of the standard install. You can find it in the C:\Program Files\UltraVNC directory. If you don't find repeater.exe there, you must have deselected it during the install in the Select Components section. It's also part of the UltraVNC-102-Bin.zip download you can get at http://sourceforge ...

I thought because SC/PcHelpware when downloaded and opened, it requests the outside controll from inside it's own netork and thus it should work through routers/firewalls ok, just like a webpage/Internet. Is this not the case?
