How do I get 1.2.11 to match the 1.2.10 behaviour?

Host machine has 1600x900 and 1920x1080 screens.
Client machine has a 1920x1080 screen.
VNC viewer window not maximised for any of the below.

In 1.2.10:

Connect to the host with client in 1600x900 mode. Client gets a 1600x900 window centred ...

That's something i can work with.
minimize-> restore: The viewer send a message to the server...(send_next_update)
It looks like the server lose this message and keeps waiting for the viewer to ask for an update, while the viewer waits for an update from the server.

Viewer: remote screen "freezes" - no more screen updates. Happens only occasionally. When it happens: even the Viewer Status window (speed, traffic bytes sent/received) doesn't indicate any changes any more; after minimizing viewer screen refresh works again.

Did you try using a non aero theme instead of setting best performance.
Vista without aero run as fast as xp for vnc.

I found where the non-aero themes are and I the host to Windows Classic. The problem still occurs, and this time there's nothing of interest in the windows Event Viewer of either ...

I may have narrowed this down.
Today I did not enable SCROLL-LOCK for sending Ctrl/Alt/Shift/Windows keys through, and the problem hasn't appeared yet.

I will now test the newest version 1.2.1.1 to see if it still has this problem.[/s]

I tried turning off all windows display options. It seemed to take longer for the problem to occur the first time, but it still eventually happened within two hours. I was doing a drag-fill in Excel at the time.

What I'd like to know is why can't the viewer recover the connection after the host has a momentary CPU spike, since earlier versions didn't have this problem? (It could be a change in Windows or uVNC.)

Is there any way I can get a log file from the viewer?

Manually disabling the Desktop compositing didn't help.

It's probably happening whenever the host starts something resource intensive, but it's just not possible to reproduce at will.

I checked my event viewer log after a freeze event and saw this:

Ah, the distinction between Ultra and Ultra2 wasn't in any documentation I could find.

What do you suppose the maximum bandwidth ∝ resolution that uVNC utilise actually is?

I would like to see "Auto select best settings" to avoid selecting a lossy-compression JPEG format like Ultra, Ultra2 on a high-speed (1Gbps!) LAN connection. Many of the other encodings don't cause these visual artefacts, and the default Jpeg quality is 6, which is very low quality.

I'm having a problem with freezing. When the host performs an action that demands a lot of CPU time (like opening or closing an application), the viewer freezes and does not recover unless minimised&restored or with the Request Screen Refresh command. No amount of waiting will make the viewer ...

Remote machine was crashing (BSOD) on login with mirror driver and ultravnc client connected recently.

I just want to follow up that it was a lack of system resources that was causing this (BSOD) crash, so probably just that tiny extra requirement from the mirror driver + all the software ...

Feedback:

It was very confusing to have the new "Save Position" on by default for existing saved connections. I spent half-an-hour debugging the cause of the unwanted behaviour.
