This I can say version 1.0.2 has been the best version so far for XP. I believe after that version they were trying to make things work on Vista. I can certainly say that I am impressed with version 1.0.6.5 and how it runs on Windows 7. I still need to do further testing but I can tell you that 1.0 ...

This problem is repeating itself. I will connect to the remote machine running 1.0.6.5 and it will be on the Windows XP login screen. It will drop the connection after logging into Windows.

I can confirm this is a problem. I am experiencing the same trouble.

I am curious how did you program it to look like Outlook? I am working on developing a non-related program that I would like to have a similar look to Outlook (or even iTunes would be cool).

So, I understand how you can setup XP to accept incoming connections. Now my dilemma is what do I put in for the ip address to make UltraVNC connect to the server on the machine I am dialed into?

I find this idea interesting. Would going to XML make it easier to port UltraVNC to other operating systems? Should we be worried about security issues if it is in XML? What problems could we end up dealing with?

Well, the reason I suggested it is because are we talking a major overhaul to redo the codebase? Is this something that could take many months or are we talking a few weeks? We might want to keep the new code seperate until it is completed because bugs and fixes might come up for the existing 1.0 ...

We would need to wait though for the codebase to be redone with UltraVNC 2.0. If the codebase was modular it would make the task significantly easier of rewriting it for BSD or Mac OS X.

Well, the problem I have is I need to connect into these computers using dialup when nobody is on the other side. So having them connect for me is not an option.

One last suggestion on the modular codebase, I think it should be done as a side project like Mozilla did with Firefox. How about UltraVNC Starlight for the name? (just trying to think up something creative) Then when it's complete maybe bring it back over as UltraVNC and call it version 2.0 ...

I have seen call monitor systems that record the screen while the enduser is on a call. I wonder if they were done with VNC? I'm sure this couldn't be too hard to do.

This is on build 4074 which was released last year. I got a newer build 5048 which I will install if I get some more time soon.

I am curious as to what you guys are talkign about here. DO you think EchoVNC is better than UltraVNC in someway? Or do you think UltraVNC is lacking something that is implemented in EchoVNC?
