Re: Why is c:\temp_phw hardcoded?
I gave up a long time ago expecting files to be where they 'should' be especially when one mapping/geophysical app most of my clients use puts its data directory on the root of C: by default (We've now wrapped their install so when it's done the directory is moved to a better location, and it's ...

Or why they'd put it in the root of C:, believe me we've now had that conversation.bevtech wrote:But another good question is why someone would name a personal temp with temp_phw

Why is c:\temp_phw hardcoded?
Why on earth is the default viewer using a hardcoded temporary directory named (c:\temp_phw) rather than one in the users temporary files folder? And worse than that why is it just assuming it can delete all files in that directory when it existed prior to the program being run. One of my techs ...

Re: Start_viewer under Delphi (almost)
OK, turns out it's the window classname that's the key, as soon as I overrode the default classname of my main form with 'PcHelpWare Control Viewer' I started getting the messages I was looking for.
Is there any way to specify the class name the library looks for?
The following is code for a demo ...

Start_viewer under Delphi Now Working
Oh so close, having built a tiny test program in delphi to start the Viewer, the viewer starts, connects, and runs fine, but I never get any of the messages I expect based on the pchelpware.cpp source code. (WM_SYSCOMMAND with WM_USER+13 in the wParam) I've traced every message going to my program ...

Re: custom viewer
You can then just display to the user a single windows that show a generated ID, and 2 buttons : Start, which call the start_viewer method, and Stop, which call the stop_viewer method.
It actually looks like (based on the pchelpware_viewer.cpp file) that a stop is done with Start_viewer("", "",0,0 ...

Re: PcHelpWare_viewer.exe --listen ?
The docs for pchelpware can be found in two locations
1.) the online manual at www.pchelpware.com
2.) The step by step for pchelpware located as a sticky in this forum..
Neither of which addresses the question.
This is seems to be an annoying over site, I want my support techs to simply have it ...

Re: Offline Creator
I think this is a perfect example why there should be an executable version of the "Creator"
I Agree, I did get hold of one before but does it work with the new version?????
I had the same complaint, but there is a batch file to do the creation, (also a version of the script I modified, see the ...

SC Dialog Display Issues
The connection selection dialog has some issues with redrawing the background, if the window is dragged so that part of the window is off screen, then dragged back, in most cases the background is not repainted correctly (I get red sections in the background under XP, 2K and 98 ) the exact behavior ...
