Re: UltraVNC as a service in Vista
It also seems (from the MSDN thread) that the stub launcher API call will fail if no-one is logged on, so it will be impossible to serve the initial logon screen.

Re: Run vnc without starting Windows..
I use UltraVNC server and viewer from BartPE bootable CD. There is a standard plugin for UltraVNC. Google for BartPE. It's free (need Windows license for the PC you boot the CD from).
Good luck

Re: winvnc -noconsole
Sorry, but it is not clear what you want to accomplish. VNC is typically used to access the console, and it works as long as the console is also session 0. What would be the desired benefit of -noconsole? What would you expect to see? As VNC works right now, what you get is the screen from session 0 ...

So when I try to start the service again it says winvnc.exe is already running when it is not. You had connections to/from localhost in TIME_WAIT. This is normal, but ...

Re: Replayability
I have not tried to record via the JAVA viewer until today. While recording was active, I could not interact with the JAVA viewer at all. I suppose one has to have two sessions in parallel, one for interacting and the other for recording. I checked the content of the recorded file, and it was ...

Try using ZoomIt from http://sysinternals.com on the clients' screen
(I suppose that means the PC running VNC server).
It has a temporary "draw" mode that works fine.
Good luck

If the problem is the popup just after installation, then try searching for fastpush. If you want to do something yourself, then you can avoid the popup by following this recipe: Preparation in advance: (optionally run UltraVncDriverSetupSilent /verysilent) Install and configure manually a standard ...

How to disallow screen blanking in SC
Hello, I'm implementing SC for helpdesk support. The fact that SC is not listening is crucial for internal sec. audit. However during a support session it must NOT be possible for supporter to blank the screen of the server - the supportee must be observing anything done in his/her name. I tried to ...

I googled for multicast vnc and up came among others
http://www2.in.tum.de/~ziewer/multicastvnc/
I don't know how or if they handle lost packets.

Well, Ultra ScreenRecorder is a great product, but it is more in the league of DemoForge. It is both overkill and not quite enough, as it can in principle miss some updates, that went to the consultants' screen. Already record/replay seems to work for me (with some limitations) just by replaying ...

Replayability
Hi, this is a many-folded request for a "replayability option". I managed to record and save VNC traffic and replay it later to a viewer - required for auditing purposes. On the viewer side, I had to choose a specific Encoding, refrain from using encryption and file transfer etc. I imagine that the ...

Actually our external consultants want to use RDP (Remote Desktop), but RDP cannot be replayed, and as we use UltraVnc in general, I am going to use a VNCviewer instead of Explorer.exe for the RDP sessions. Btw, RDP can REALLY be replayed. Just look at our DemoForge Studio ( http://www.demoforge ...

Multicast for classroom teaching is a great idea; only problem is that multicast is a type of UDP => not guaranteed delivery. So some kind of retransmission scheme must be implemented, similar to NAT traversal with UDP packets, but with new interesting challenges: - how to handle latecomers (new ...

Sorry for a long reply: It has long since been inherent in the RFB protocol that framebuffer updates are only sent upon receiving a update request; it is part of the "automatic" adaptation to the transfer speed. And it works just fine for slow bandwidth with low latency. I have experienced myself ...
