Maybe I should look at SC again?
I thought VNC SC died with XP (never worked well in Vista).
So we went to PCHelpware.
Both were pretty good with XP, but Vista -- just too much lag.

We switched to PCHW about a year ago, because we heard SC had no plans to support Vista.
PCHW is definately slower than SC on XP, but at least on Vista it works (SC times out). I would say on an XP Pro - to - XP Pro session, PCHW is about 10-20% slower than SC.

Re: Really Slow
We switched to PCHW because we found SC did not work well on Vista.
PCHW is too slow. On good connections/good pipes, it is OK. But certainly slower than SC.
Loading the mirror/video hook driver is not an option for us, since we never know what client will need help.

Also looking forward to PCHW updates!
Maybe integrate the UAC dialog box prompt fix, into the next PCHW.

Re: Speed
We moved to PCHW from VNC SC, for Vista support.
We find it is a bit slower than VNC SC. If the end user has a slow/marginal connection, PCHW seems to be noticeably slower than VNC SC. I would say a slow connection is 300KBps download/125Kbps upload.

Re: VISTA: User account control prompts
I forgot to add this:
PHW is slower than SC for us, via Repeater
BUT on PHW, helpdesk.txt :
Support1
-connect domain.com:5500 -id 13571 -proxy
We did not use PROXY on SC. Maybe the 443 overhead is a lot more? I thought PCs are so fast now, that no one would notice the SSL overhead.

Re: VISTA: User account control prompts
Thanks for help guys.
We only use the REPEATER, (clients come in through our firewall for remote helpdesk) so I think we will have to wait until PHW updates.
PHW is slower than SC, with repeater, but PHW is solid with VISTA, so we have been using only PHW.
Looking forward to the updates.

VISTA: User account control prompts
PHW with Repeater. On Vista, definately faster than SC !
Problem:
We grab a user's PC for remote helpdesk support. Works great - get to the user in about 4 clicks
On Vista, when we go to install an application, Vista will prompt a dialog box:
"User Account Control

We upgraded to PHW with PHW_Repeater

HTTPS is nice, performance does not seem to change
